HFI - Cloud Computing (CC)
In this course you build and run a cloud of your own. On three virtual machines you set up OpenNebula as the infrastructure, split it among tenants, provision a Kubernetes cluster on top of it from code, and monitor everything with Prometheus, Grafana and Loki. In the advanced tasks you also run a local language model as a service on your platform, which helps with operations without sending data anywhere else.
Every chapter follows one case. The cooperative Wolkenwerk Bern runs a shared cloud for its members, among them a medical practice, a fiduciary office, a bike shop with a web shop and a small municipality. You are the platform team, and in every part Simone Wyss, the managing director, brings you a new assignment.
Part 0 covers the course overview, the lab, your personal parameters, preparing the VMs and the tools and the hand-in repo. The course overview shows part by part what you build in the whole module. Assessment explains how the four milestones and the exam make up your grade, and the glossary defines the terms of the course.
